Equipment needed in shelter

In our shelters you will find:

• Wood stove, firewood, ax and newspaper.
• A big cauldron
• Picnic table
• Dry toilet near each refuge.
• Water point near all the refuges except the La Grande-Vue refuge which does not have a water point, you must treat the water you find on the trails or boil it.
• Some shelters can serve as a stopover for day hikers.
• Don't be surprised if you see small miniature creatures in our shelters

What you should bring with you to sleep in a shelter or campsite

• Floor mattress
• Sleeping bag
• Backpack
• Trail map
• Walking stick
• Walking boot
• Stove and fuel
• Match or lighter
• Utensils, crockery etc.
• Candle
• Toilet paper
• Change of clothing
• Mosquito repellent
• Flashlight or headlamp with spare battery
• Small repair kit (duck tape and tie rap)
• Rope, thread, twine
• Multi-function tool
• Clothespin
• First aid kit
• Water filter or Pristine tablet
• Cell phone
• Sufficient food for your stay
• Garbage bag to bring back all your waste
• 9 volt battery for smoke detector for all shelters
• Please note that it is strictly forbidden to make outdoor fires at the refuge or campsite.
• For sleeping while camping, we recommend bringing a rope with you to tie food and other items as they smell in the trees, do not keep anything with you in the tent.
• It is not possible to have your dog accompany you on a long hike, in a shelter or while camping.
• To travel the trails of the Sentier des Caps de Charlevoix in winter, it is recommended to do so with a backpack. The trails generally do not allow the use of a sled.

**The suggested equipment is only basic equipment, be aware that you are going into a natural environment and in the mountains, so bring sufficiently warm clothing.
